Dear BBM Families,
Welcome to our first week of the 2026-2027 Academic Year! We are off to a wonderful start, and it has been a joy seeing our classrooms filled with energy and excitement (and a few expected tears). Please review the following important updates and safety reminders to help keep our school running smoothly.
Communication via Brightwheel
The Brightwheel app is our primary tool for all school correspondence. It is the best way to stay connected with us throughout the day. Please use Brightwheel to:
- Send quick messages directly to teachers or the office (including notifying us if your child is sick, running late, or absent).
- Track daily routines and care logs for toddler students.
- Read important school newsletters and announcements.
Labor Day Closure
Please remember we are closed Monday September 7 for Labor Day.
Schedule Adjustment Requests & Pickup Times
We appreciate that family schedules can change. However, for those who have requested to drop off early or stay late, please note that we cannot make any schedule changes at this time. We must maintain strict staff-to-child ratios for safety and licensing. We will notify families individually if and when our schedule allows for adjustments.
We appreciate that family schedules can change. However, for those who have requested to drop off early or stay late, please note that we cannot make any schedule changes at this time. We must maintain strict staff-to-child ratios for safety and licensing. We will notify families individually if and when our schedule allows for adjustments.
Please also ensure your child is picked up promptly at the end of their scheduled program. Because our staffing assignments and classroom ratios are strictly calculated based on registered times, late pick-ups can create immediate challenges for our team. We appreciate your partnership in respecting these program end times. Half day ends at 11:30am, Academic Day ends at 3:15pm and our building closes at 6pm.
Medication & Topical Product Forms
State regulations require signed documentation before we can apply or administer any product to your child. Blank forms are available in our lobby on the whiteboard, at Forms & Docs or you may ask a teacher for assistance.
- Topical Ointment Forms: Required for non-prescription skin items, including sunscreen, insect repellent, and diaper creams.
- Medication Forms: Required for all prescription medications and any other non-topical medications.
- Safety Reminder: Never leave any medication, ointment, sunscreen or insect repellent in your child’s backpack. All items must be turned in directly to a staff member so they can be stored securely out of children’s reach.
Nut-Free Facility & Classroom Allergy Policies
**Please remember that Birmingham Bloomfield Montessori is a strict nut-free facility**
When packing lunches and snacks, ensure all items are completely free of peanuts and tree nuts. Additionally, your child’s specific classroom may have further restrictions based on severe allergies among students in that room. Please look out for notes from your child’s teacher regarding room-specific guidelines.
Proper Footwear for the Playground
To keep your child safe during outdoor play, please send them to school wearing closed-toed athletic shoes every day. Any other shoe type pose safety risks on the playground.
Gymnastics Program
Be on the lookout for a flyer from your child’s teacher regarding the Gymnastics program for students 2 years and older. It is an additional program run by J.S. Juniors on Thursday mornings. Her contact info will be on the form, but feel free to ask us any additional questions.
Thank you for your cooperation and partnership and we’re so glad you’re here!
