October is officially in full swing! We have an exciting week ahead packed with our annual farm trip, curriculum discussions, picture day, and upcoming Halloween fun. Please review the key details and reminders below.

Upland Hills Farm Field Trip This Friday, October 9

  • School Closure: BBM will be CLOSED on Friday, October 9. There are no classes on campus, as all staff and families will meet directly at Upland Hills Farm 481 Lake George Rd, Oxford, MI 48370.
  • Cost & Billing: $11 per person (adults and children). Charges will be billed directly to your Brightwheel account.
  • What to Expect: A guided tour with a farmer, visiting the barn animals, feeding the ducks, a pie pumpkin for each child, and time for picnic and play!

Curriculum Night & Open House: Monday, October 12

Please mark your calendars for our upcoming evening events next Monday:

  • Curriculum Night (Current Families): 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
    • Join us on the lower level in the Yellow Room! This is a wonderful opportunity for both Toddler and Preschool parents to learn more about the Montessori curriculum and what your child will be experiencing this year.
  • Open House (Prospective Families): 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
    • Know a neighbor, friend, or family member interested in BBM? Please encourage them to attend our Open House to tour our classrooms and meet our teachers!

School Picture Day: Wednesday, October 14

Say cheese! School Picture Day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14.

  • Attire: Children may wear their favorite picture-day outfits (Preschool students do not need to wear uniforms on picture day).
  • More specific timing and photo package ordering details will be shared via Brightwheel leading up to Wednesday.

Trunk or Treat & Trunk Host Sign-Up: Friday, October 30

Our annual Trunk or Treat is fast approaching on Friday, October 30, from 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM!

  • Trunk Hosts Needed: We are looking for parents and family members to decorate their vehicle trunks in a fun theme and pass out treats in our parking lot.
  • Sign Up Here: If you would like to host a trunk, please sign up using our online form: Trunk or Treat Host Sign-Up
  • Event Details: Students will change into Halloween costumes before the event. Half-day students and families who do not attend on Fridays are welcome to join us from home! School will close immediately following the event at 4:30 PM.

Health & Illness Policy Reminder

As the weather turns cooler, we want to keep our school community healthy and thriving. It is really important to keep children home when they are sick to prevent spread to other children and teachers! Please remember our strictly enforced illness policy:

  • 24-Hour Rule: Children must be symptom-free for a full 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing or symptom-masking medication) before returning to school after an illness, fever, vomiting, or diarrhea.
  • Reporting: If your child is going to be absent due to illness, please send a quick message through Brightwheel to notify the office and your child’s teachers.
