BBM News & Notes | August 21, 2026

Dear BBM Families,

Welcome to the start of a wonderful new school year! Whether you are returning or joining us for the first time, we are thrilled to welcome all of our current, returning, and new families. Please review the following key dates, arrival procedures, and administrative requirements for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Upcoming Closure & First Day of School

  • August 24 – August 28: School will be CLOSED for Teacher In-Service and building updates.
  • Monday, August 31: First Day of the 2026-2027 Academic Year!

New Parent Orientation (New Families Only)

  • When: Tuesday, August 25 | 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM (Drop-in event)
  • Who: Adults only (no children, please).

This is an opportunity to confirm that all required paperwork is complete, bring in supplies (extra clothes, medication, etc.), meet your child’s teacher, and ask any last-minute questions. Required paperwork needs to be complete before your child’s first day.

Mandatory Health Appraisals

Thank you to our families who have already submitted their Health Appraisal forms!

For those who still need to turn it in, please note that this state-mandated form is required before your child can attend class. We must review all appraisals prior to the first day, so please submit your completed form before Monday, August 31.

Important Brightwheel & Door Code Instructions

Please log into your Brightwheel account prior to the first day to review your check-in code and update your contact info:

  1. Locating Your Code: Open the Brightwheel app and click the top-left menu icon (three lines) to view your profile. Your 4-digit code is listed right below your phone number.
  2. New Parents Door Code: Although you can edit your PIN in the Brightwheel app, changing it in will not change your assigned door code at the facility. It is best to leave the assigned Brightwheel code as-is so your app PIN and door code match.
  3. Returning Parents Door Code: Your door code has not changed from the last school year/summer. If you wish for your Brightwheel code to match your door code, you can change it in your profile of Brightwheel.
  4. Contact Information: Please ensure your phone number and email address are up to date in your Brightwheel profile so we can reach you quickly if needed.

Supplies & Dress Code

You can find complete supply lists on our Parent Portal. Please note the following key items every child needs:

  • Uniforms: Required for all Preschool students. Details and guidelines are available on the supply page.
  • Toddler Clothing: Toddlers should wear easy to manage clothing (think elastic waistband pants, not overalls)
  • Extra Clothing: All students must bring 2 extra changes of clothing (6 pairs of underwear if toilet training)
  • Shoes: Each student should bring comfortable indoor shoes to remain at school. Check the supply list for examples.
  • Nap Supplies: Required for every student who stays for afternoon rest time. Check the supply list for examples

First Day Highlights & Drop-off Tips

Please review our complete Parent Portal for full guidelines. Here are a few essential highlights for the first morning:

  • First Day Drop-off & Classroom Entrance Logistics: Because the first day will be busy, please note where your child’s classroom is located for drop-off. If you are unsure which classroom your child is placed in, you can confirm at New Parent Orientation or send us a message via Brightwheel.
    • Blue Room and Red Room Families: Park in the upper lot and enter your child’s classroom directly by walking through the playground.
    • Yellow Room and Orange Room Families: Enter your classroom through the lower level (where the office is located).
  • Coat Hooks/Cubbies: Your child will have a labeled coat hook or cubby at their classroom door. Please place any coats or bags there. All personal items must be clearly labeled with your child’s first and last name.
  • Lunches & Water: Water bottles and lunchboxes must be labeled with your child’s first and last name. An ice pack is required in every lunchbox. Please also pack a healthy morning and afternoon snack if your child stays for academic or full-day care. It’s helpful if you label snacks as snacks so we know what to serve when.
  • Drop-off Success: If your child feels nervous or upset at drop-off, set a clear agreement with them beforehand: walk them in, give a warm kiss/hug goodbye, assure them you will see them after school, and stick to that plan. Keep a smile on your face and avoid lingering or sneaking out, as quick and consistent goodbyes help soothe anxious feelings. They feed of of your expressions!

We will always call you if we feel it is necessary, and you are welcome to call the office as many times as you like to check on your child! The classroom teachers will also post photos throughout the day in your Brightwheel account.
