Dear BBM Families,

We have a few exciting updates and friendly reminders as we head into the weekend!

1. Upland Hills Farm Field Trip – Tomorrow!
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at Upland Hills Farm tomorrow morning at 9:30 AM! If you still want to sign up you can do it HERE. Please remember:

  • We are meeting directly at the farm, not at school: 481 Lake George Road Oxford, Michigan 48370
  • Dress for the weather and terrain. Bring layers and comfortable shoes.
  • We’ll be walking about ½ mile on an uneven trail and taking a wagon ride, so strollers are not recommended.
  • It’s going to be a wonderful day connecting with animals, nature, and friends.

2. Eye Health Visit 👁️
A big thank-you to one of our BBM parents (and eye doctor!) who visited our Red and Yellow Rooms today to teach us about eye health. The children loved learning about their eyes, how they work, and how to keep them healthy. Your curious children enjoyed this fun and fascinating lesson— ask them about it!

3. Upcoming Closures
Please make note of the following dates:

  • Friday, Oct. 24: School closed after the field trip
  • Thursday, Nov. 7: Closed for Parent-Teacher Conferences
  • Tuesday, Nov. 26: Early dismissal at 3:30 PM for the Thanksgiving holiday

5. Extra Clothing Reminder
As the temperatures drop, please send in seasonally appropriate extra clothing for your child if you haven’t already. Many still have summer clothes in their bins— thank you for keeping them cozy and comfortable!

6. BBM Calendar Access
You can always view our full school calendar at birminghambloomfieldmontessori.com/parent-portal.
If you’d like to import our calendar into your personal Google Calendar, the link and instructions are provided there. (Please note: the initial import must be done on a computer, not a phone.)

7. Mystery Reader
Parents, grandparents, or loved ones are invited throughout the month of November to be a Mystery Reader! Bring a favorite story to share with the class and surprise the children. Your child’s teacher will reach out with an opportunity to sign up.

8. BBM Directory
We’ve created an optional directory for parents and students to connect outside of BBM. Some parents may want to plan playdates or other connections outside of school and so if you’d like you can add yourself to the BBM Directory. It will only be shared with our current families and is completely optional.

9. Trunk or Treat Event Friday, October 31 | 3:00 PM
We’re excited to kick off our annual Trunk or Treat celebration! We’re asking some parents to take the lead and volunteer to decorate their car ‘trunks’ and provide a small treat for students. The treats can be candy, stickers, bubbles, temporary tattoos, etc. No nuts please). Children will trick-or-treat in their costumes in our blocked off parking lot. Half-day students are welcome to return and join the fun!

10. Parking Reminders
While we have our lower lot spots reserved, parents and other caregivers can park in the upper lot to pick up students from the red room, blue room and playground– just be sure not to park in one of the two reserved spots near the gate. Those are reserved for the pastor of the church. Please remind anyone who picks up your child to park in a different spot.
